Keep Watch 2009

November 16, 2009 by Michael Leave a Comment

Monday 16 November 2009

Today marked the launch of the 2009 Keep Watch Program by our partner Royal Life Saving .

Royal Life Saving and Poolwerx have updated the home pool safety checksheet, which is available homepoolsafety.com.au and are also providing an opportunity to win a $500 poolwerx voucher by downloading the checksheet, checking your home pool and then entering the results online at homepoolsafety.com.au

In our continued support of the Keep Watch program and in a push to promote the home pool safety check sheet the Samuel Morris Foundation has participated in a number of media interviews with and for Royal Life Saving  to help spread these vital messages.

The Samuel Morris Foundation media interviews included the 9am program with David Reyne and Kim Watkins on Channel 10, and radio interviews in New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and the Northern Territory.

As you will see from our last news item, vigilance pays, checking your fences and gates can really pay off, and may prevent your child from drowning.

The under five drowning statistics for the last twelve months are shocking, raising above the 5 year average, and 60 % of these deaths occurred in backyard swimming pools. Vigilance by every pool owner will help reduce this tragic toll.

So make this weekend your home pool safety weekend by downloading the checksheet
