National Disability Insurance Scheme

August 31, 2009 by Michael Leave a Comment

You never know when you, your children or your loved ones may be thrust into the world of disability through no fault of their own. You also never know when you may be thrust into the role as a carer for a person with a disability….. this issue is EVERYONES business.

The Samuel Morris Foundation is a signatory to the push for a National Disability Insurance Scheme. This scheme will go a long way to fixing problems associated with the current disability support systems which are crisis driven, drastically underfunded and result in significant waiting periods for equipment which is essential to the daily care and quality of life for people with a disability.

Please read the information below and then take action

National Disability Insurance Scheme

The movement for a National Disability Insurance Scheme is gaining pace.

‘Shut Out’, The National Disability Strategy Consultation Report identified ‘the adequate financing of disability support’ as one of its four strategic priorities.

We need your help to get an NDIS over the line.

A new website has been launched at www.ndis.org.au

Please visit the site, and take one or more of these actions:

Email your mpSign the petition

Visit your mpSpread the word

Organisations can still endorse the NDIS and display their name on the website. People with a disability and their families can also share their story in the Have Your Say pages.

Making an NDIS a reality is everyone’s responsibility.

It will not be introduced without broad community support.

So please visit the new website and take action. Then, please also engage other people with a disability, other carers, your disability services, family and your friends to join the growing band of supporters for a National Disability Insurance Scheme.
