What should have been a day of joy and celebration has turned into a nervous wait for two families, one from Melbourne and one from Sydney.
The Samuel Morris Foundation’s thoughts are with these families as they face a nervous wait to see if their children are fortunate enough to escape without a brain injury.
In both cases family members or friends who were visiting were able to commence CPR on their children, a factor which could make a significant difference to their outcomes.
These two events are another reminder about the drowning awareness and prevention messages:
- ALWAYS supervise children in and around water,
- to make sure pool fences are in good working order and compliant with safety standards,
- enroll children in aquatics classes as soon as possible
- learn CPR in case the unimaginable happens like it did to these two families today.
